New Delhi: Facebook has identified a ‘blacklist’ of over 4,000 people and groups that it considers dangerous.

Among the blacklist, which includes militarised social movements and alleged terrorists, are 10 groups based out of India which are involved in terror, militant or extremism US online newspaper The Intercept reported.

The ‘dangerous 10’ from India are — Hindutva group Sanatan Sanstha, banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah), All Tripura Tiger Force, Kangleipak Communist Party, Khalistan Tiger Force, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak and Islamic extremist and terror groups like Indian Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Afzal Guru Squad and sub-groups of global organizations Islamic State operating from Indian soil.

Over 50% of the overall list is made up of alleged foreign terrorists who are predominately Middle Eastern, South Asian and Muslim.

Facebook’s policy suggests that the social media platform puts harsher restrictions on marginalised groups.

Facebook’s three-tiered system indicates the type of restrictions it will enforce with regard to content. Tier 1 comprises most restrictive level for terrorist groups, hate groups and criminal organizations, while Tier 3 is the least restrictive level for militarised social movements.
