Bhubaneswar: With Odisha government authorising district collectors to decided on reopening of schools after the summer vacation on the basis of weather condition, 10 districts have announced their decisions.
As per the announcements made by district administrations on Monday, the summer vacation has been extended in Ganjam, Bhadrak and Bargarh districts where the schools will remain closed till June 20.
The schools in Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Khurda and Puri districts will reopen after the vacation as per schedule on June 18. But the schools in these districts will have morning classes till June 20. The classes will be held from 6.30 am to 10.30 am during the period.
In Nabarangpur district, the morning classes will be held till June 22.
Earlier in the day, the School and Mass Education department had issued a notification stating that the district collectors will declare holiday or change the class timings for Class I to XII students of public, private and aided schools depending on the weather condition in their respective districts. This directive will remain in force till April 20.
It may be noted that the schools in the state were scheduled to reopen on June 18 after remaining closed for early summer vacation on April 25 amid prolonged heatwave conditions.
