Bhubaneswar: Odisha government Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi on Friday informed that 10 persons from West Bengal with links to the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz event in south Delhi’s Nizammudin area earlier last month, had recently visited Talcher.
“We have traced their contacts and sent their samples for COVID-19 test,” he said.
One among the 27 Jamaat members, who had returned to Odisha, tested positive on Friday.
Bagchi said 21 other returnees have tested negative for coronavirus, while results of five more are awaited.
All these persons and their families are being kept in quarantine and under strict surveillance, he added.
Bagchi further informed that 40 people from Odisha, who took part in the religious congregation, are still stranded in Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
