Bhubaneswar: After over 500 COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days, another 404 people tested positive for the virus in the Odisha capital in the last 24 hours taking the affected tally to 10425.
The Bhubaneswar Development Corporation (BMC) also informed about 273 more patients getting cured of the infection and one more death during this period.
Earlier speaking to the media, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that cases are likely to peak in September. The city already has over 4000 active cases and the number is likely to breach 5000-mark by September 15.
The BMC is currently conducting 2500 COVID-19 tests daily.
The commissioner further said that 10 wards in Bhubaneswar are severely affected.
Bhubaneswar has reported almost 2500 cases in the last seven days.
With 42 deaths and 6334 recoveries, the city now has 4038 active cases.
