11 Bollywood Celebrities Who Took Surrogacy Route To Parenthood

Bhubaneswar: Preity Zinta has now joined the long list of Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Shilpa Shetty, who became parents via surrogacy.

Preity Zinta surprised her fans on Thursday by announcing the birth of her twins – Jai and Gia – through surrogacy in an Instagram post. The actor had tied the knot with her American boyfriend Gene Goodenough in 2016.

SHILPA SHETTY

Actress Shilpa Shetty welcomed her second child on February 15, 2020. Born through surrogacy. Samisha’s arrival completed her family. Her son, Viaan, was seven years old then.

KAPOOR SIBLINGS, EKTA & TUSSHAR

Filmmaker and T.V producer Ekta Kapoor became a single mother through surrogacy at the age of 43. She welcomed her baby boy on January 27, 2019. She opted for surrogacy after a seven-year-long journey with multiple unsuccessful IUI and IVF attempts.

Her brother Tusshar Kapoor had embraced fatherhood through surrogacy in June 2016 with his baby boy, Laksshya.

In 2018, actor Lisa Ray and her husband Jason Dehni became parents to twin daughters, Sufi and Soleil, through surrogacy.

SHREYAS TALPADE

Shreyas Talpade and his wife Deepti were blessed with a baby girl via surrogacy on May 7, 2018, almost 14 years after their marriage.

SUNNY LEONE

In June 2017, Sunny adopted a baby girl, Nisha, from Latur and nine months later, she and her husband Daniel Weber welcomed sons Asher and Noah. She later shared a family picture and wrote: “We planned and tried to have a family and after so many years our family is now complete with Asher Singh Weber, Noah Singh Weber and Nisha Kaur Weber.”

KARAN JOHAR

Karan Johar too opted for surrogacy and became a proud parent to twins – Yash and Roohi – on February 7, 2017.

SHAH RUKH KHAN

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, who were blessed with two children – Aryaan and Suhana , decided to become parents again in their late 40s and welcomed AbRam in May 2013 via surrogacy.

AAMIR KHAN

Actor Aamir Khan decided to take the surrogacy route after his former wife Kiran Rao suffered a miscarriage and uterine complications. They welcomed Azad in December 2011. Aamir already had two children – Junaid and Ira, from his previous marriage to Reena.

SOHAIL KHAN

Ten years after the birth of their son Nirvaan, actor-director Sohail Khan and wife Seema Khan welcome their second baby Yohan in June 2011 through IVF surrogacy.
