Phulbani: Eleven poachers were arrested and a leopard skin and nails seized from them from Badagarh forest under Karda range of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Wednesday.
According to sources, forest department personnel apprehended the accused person when they were extracting the hide and claws of a leopard they had hunted on Tuesday night.
According to DFO Prashant Patel, 11 people were arrested and forwarded to the court today after leopard skin and claws were seized from them.
It may be recalled that a man was attacked by a leopard in the area three days ago. As a result, the forest department intensified patrolling in the forest.
Acting on a tip-off that the accused poachers hunted the leopard on Tuesday night, the forest department personnel raided the site and apprehended the poachers.
