Bhubaneswar: To ensure smooth conduct of Durga Puja festivities in the state, police have arrested 112 of 1,068 identified habitual offenders under Section 110 of the CrPC, informed DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma.
Addressing a media conference on Thursday, Sharma said, “At least 21 persons were arrested for forcibly collecting donations at different places and 22 cases registered in various police stations in this regard. Besides, 20 illegal arms, 683 live ammunition, 11 live bombs and 1,000 detonators have been seized.”
Speaking on the security measures put in place for the puja, he said 244 platoons of police force, including 140
of OSAP, 81 of Indian Reserve Battalion, 23 of OISF and three platoons of Odisha Swift Action Force, have been mobilized across the state.
About 90 additional Static Sets and 140 Manpack Sets with two inspectors and 53 sub-inspectors/assistant sub-inspectors have been provided in the twin cities, he added.
