Puri: As many as 12 people were arrested in Odisha’s Puri town on Monday for their alleged involvement in some cases of extortion and robbery. Various weapons were also seized from them by the police.
Addressing a presser at Town Police station, City DSP K K Hariprasad said that police got reliable information about some people planning a robbery in a cashew forest near Harchandasahi Chakrakote Lane under Town police limits. Police raided the area and arrested five people.
Similarly, Basolisahi police arrested five others who were making a bid to commit robbery in Shankarpur cashew forest, the DSP said.
He further informed that Puri Marine police have arrested two more people on the charges of extortion.
Police have seized various weapons, two bikes and cash from their possession. All the 12 have been produced in court, according to police.
