Balangir: In a fresh crackdown on drug smuggling, police seized 13 quintals of ganja and apprehended three persons in Lathore area of Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.
According to sources, the seizure was made at Jhalialiti Chhak on Khariar Road under the jurisdiction of Lathore Police Station after a police team intercepted a pick-up van.
Acting on a tip-off about illegal transportation of ganja from Kandhamal to Nuapada district’s Komana, the police carried out a special operation and seized the contraband.
While three persons were caught in this connection, the driver of the van escaped from the spot.
The three are being interrogated as part of the investigation to ascertain the involvement of others in the smuggling racket.
