Balasore: A 13-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide in Dakshin Narasinghpur panchayat under Nilagiri police limits in Oupada block of Odisha’s Balasore district, taking offence to his demand for chow mein not being met by his father.
According to sources, the boy insisted on having chow mein on Wednesday night. His father tried to reason with him and promised to get him chow mein the next day.
The Class VIII student, however, shut the door of his room on the pretext of studying. When he did not open the door for a long time, his family members broke it open only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
He was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Khantapada, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
