Bhubaneswar: Sixteen devotees were injured in separate accidents, involving motorcycles and cars, on Bhubaneswar-Puri NH-316.
According to sources, the victims were mostly two-wheeler riders who were allegedly hit by cars when heading to Puri for “Suna Besha” darshan of the sibling deities on Thursday due to alleged mismanagement of traffic. Though identity of the injured was not immediately known, they are suspected to have travelled from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Jajpur.
The injured were initially admitted to the health centre at Sakhigopal and then shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. The condition of five among them is stated to be critical.
Sakhigopal Police registered separate cases in this connection and started investigation.
