Sambalpur: The number of COVID infected students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in the district went up to 47 as 16 more tested positive for the disease on Wednesday.
The infected students have been asked to stay in isolation in the campus. As many as 31 medical students of the institute had tested positive on Tuesday leading the VIMSAR authorities to declare some hostels and staff quarters as micro containment zones and buffer zones.
The Dean of the institute Prof Jayshree Dora has confirmed about the day’s infection cases. The authorities conducted test among the students after one of them tested positive on Monday.
Similarly, 53 students of a government-aided girl’s high school in neighbouring Sundargarh district had tested positive for COVID on Tuesday.
