Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has imposed impose traffic restrictions to facilitate repair of the damaged expansion joints on Mahanadi and Birupa barrages for 17 days.
The restriction will be in force from February 10 to 26.
According to a notice issued by the Commissionerate Police, no heavy vehicles, including tractors, will be allowed to ply from Jagatpur’s Nimpur towards Jobra. The vehicles will instead take an alternative route via Manguli Chhak, Sikharpur then take U-turn at OMP Square and can go to Jobra via Sikharpur. Only two wheelers, light motor vehicles and ambulances will be allowed to move from Nimpur side towards Jobra Chhak.
No vehicles will be allowed to ply from Jobra Chhak towards Jagatpur through Mahandi barrage. Those will instead take an alternate route via Jobra, Kaliabuda VUP through Sikharpur service road and then turn at Mahanadi VUP towards Manguli.
Similarly, no heavy vehicles, including tractors, will allowed to ply through the Birupa barrage road. The vehicles will take an alternate route till the construction work is completed. However, emergency vehicles/ambulances/patient carrying vehicles will be allowed to move freely through the barrage road.
