Angul: An 18-year-old girl was swept away in Ghodadia canal near Sunabhui Sahi in Odisha’s Angul district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the incident took place when the girl, identified as Preeti Behera of the locality, was returning home after her computer classes at Bantala. She was swept away while crossing a bridge over the canal.
The office of Special Relief Commissioner has directed Angul collector to deploy local fire service team to trace the girl. “Further, as per standard advisory, movement of public and vehicles on overtopping roads/ bridges/culverts to be restricted,” it added.
