Bhubaneswar: Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner (BMC) Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Friday said COVID-19 vaccination will be administered to healthcare workers at six different sites in the city in the first phase.
Speaking to the media Chaudhary said 100 health workers will avail the vaccination on first day of the nationwide drive that will take off on Saturday. The state government has decided to cover a total of 9,000 workers in the first phase that will continue for about 7 days, he added.
He further said the vaccination centres have been opened at Capital Hospital, Urban Community Health Centre (CHC) in Unit IV, KIIMS, SUM Hospital and AIIMS.
The vials of COVID-19 vaccine Covishield of the Serum Institute of India and Covaxin, jointly prepared by the Bharat Biotech and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), arrived in two separate shipments in special flights at Bhubaneswar airport on January 12 and 13.
