Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested two persons from Bhubaneswar for alleged loot and murder of a man from West Bengal.
According to sources, Abdul Kuddush of Maya under Laqlgola in Mursidabad district of West Bengal was staying with his relatives near Uttara in the city and earning his livelihood as construction worker. On September 12, he came to Kalpana Square to catch a bus to his village.
While he was waiting for the bus, two miscreants came to the spot and snatched his mobile phone and purse. As Abdul resisted them, the duo beat him up mercilessly. One of the accused brought a crew driver from a nearby shop and stabbed him several times.
As Abdul fell down unconscious, the two miscreants took him on a motorcycle and threw him on the Kalpana overbridge. On being informed, a team from Badagada police station went to the spot and rushed Abdul to Capital Hospital. But the doctors declared him brought dead.
During investigation, the police confirmed the identity of the victim’s family. They also identified the accused from the footage of CCTV cameras in the area and arrested them. The accused are P Narasingha Rao alias Nara @ and K Dashu Rao alias Dashu of Goutamnagar Basti under Badagada police limits.
During questioning, the accused admitted to the loot and murder. The police have also recovered the screw driver used in committing the murder.
