Berhampur: Hours after it was alleged that two brothers have been abducted from Puintala Chhak area of Odisha’s Ganjam district, police on Saturday made it clear that it was not a case of kidnapping.
Ganjam Police informed that the two siblings were picked up by Karnataka Police on Friday night for their alleged involvement in a case and the duo had not been abducted.
According to sources, the two brothers, identified as Panchanan Sahu and Krushnachandra Sahu, were at a shop near Puintala Square near Ganjam police station on Friday night, when they were allegedly whisked away at gunpoint in two cars.
However, Ganjam police stated that the two siblings were picked up by a team of Karnataka police in connection with a case and the two were kept at a hotel in Vishakhapatnam. The two are under the custody of Karnataka police and are safe.
Ganjam police teams have reached in Visakhapatnam where Karnataka Police officials were present with the two persons. However, details about the case in which the two siblings were picked up by other state police were not immediately available.
