J&K: Army vehicle attacked near Gulmarg’s Botapathri, 4 killed
Srinagar: Two soldiers and two civilian porters were killed and three others wounded in the latest terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.
Terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army vehicle in Boota Pathri area, near Gulmarg on Thursday evening, PTI reported citing Army officials.
“Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Boota Pathri area of North Kashmir which has resulted in some casualties & injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms & send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete & swift recovery,” newly-elected J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.
The attack comes just hours after terrorists shot at and injured a labourer in Batgund Tral area of Pulwama district. The injured labourer was identified as Pritam Singh, hailing from Uttar Pradesh. It was the third attack on non-local labourers in Kashmir over the past week.
On October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district.
The spate of attacks since the formation of the new government has left the public and political leaders worried.
Thursday’s attack was reported at a time when CM Omar reached New Delhi to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the meeting which lasted around 30 minutes, Omar discussed several issues, including the current security situation in J&K.
Omar handed over to Modi a resolution seeking early restoration of statehood to the union territory.
Earlier in the day, Omar met Union Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
