Bhubaneswar: Three persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Keonjhar and Jajpur districts of Odisha in the last 24 hours.
Two persons were killed on the spot when the motorcycle they were riding collided head-on with a truck near Chandibiranchipur Street under Nandipada police limits in Keonjhar district on Monday, sources said.
While the identity of the bikers is yet to be ascertained, reports said the accident occurred on state highway No. 53. The victims were taken to a hospital at Anandpur, where the doctors declared them dead. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck has surrendered before the police.
Similarly, another person died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Kontigadia intersection on the National Highway between Chandikol and Paradip in Jajpur district late on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Rai, a truck driver who hailed from Bihar. He had parked his vehicle on the roadside and was crossing the road when he was run over by a speeding vehicle. He died on the spot, sources said.
