Bhubaneswar: Days after the road rage incident involving an Army officer and his fiancee, a similar incident was reported in Odisha capital again on Thursday evening when two persons allegedly misbehaved with Indian Coast Guard DIG Satya Ranjan Das and his wife near Behera Sahi traffic post.

According to police sources, the two youths, who were allegedly in an inebriated state,  blocked the car of the senior Indian Coast Guard officer as he was waiting at the traffic post near Kalinga Stadium to take a U-turn around 9.40 pm. Once the traffic light went green, he requested them to give way, but instead of moving the two-wheeler, they hurled abuses and made obscene gestures at him. The pillion rider even tried to open the door of the couple’s car. Following which, they requested the traffic personnel to inform the PCR.

Soon cops arrived at the spot and took the two youths into custody.

The DIG later lodged a complaint in this regard with Nayapalli police. “I asked them to give way for my car, but they misbehaved with us. As a responsible citizen, I felt it necessary to lodge a complaint,” Das told reporters.

Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh also met the DIG to assess the situation.

The accused have been detained and further investigation is underway, the sources added.
