Puri: Two persons died while 14 were injured, eight among them critically, as the pick-up van in which they were travelling overturned on Kakatpur-Nayagarh road near Jagannathpur in Odisha’s Puri district early on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Jogendra Swain of Chatiana village under Astaranga police limits and Sarat Sahoo of Kendrapati village.
According to sources, the accident took place when some betel farmers were on their way to the market at Nayahata in the vehicle. Two among them died on the spot. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital at Chari Chhak and eight among them later shifted to Bhubaneswar as their condition deteriorated.
