Sambalpur: Two doctors allegedly thrashed some employees and ransacked office furniture at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in an inebriated condition in Odisha’s Sambalpur.
As per preliminary information, two doctors along with two others indulged in hooliganism and beat up employees at the office of the chief district medical officer (CDMO) on Saturday over some dispute relating to payment of incentive money.
Sources said that one of the doctors, identified as Prashant Oram, visited the office of the CDMO and asked the account about payment. As the accountant informed him about the need to submit proper documents, Oram got angry and shouted.
Oram left the office in a huff but returned in the afternoon along with another doctor, Dilip Panigrahi, and two other associates. They created a ruckus and allegedly assaulted the accountant and the head clerk, besides ransacking the furniture in the office.
The employees later informed the CFMO about the incident. A complaint was then lodged against the two doctors with the police and an investigation into the incident is underway.
