Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested and over 5.4 kg cannabis seized from them by the police in Bharatpur area of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team from Bharatpur police station carried out a raid at a shop near Shyampur Chhak and apprehended the two accused persons.
During search, over 5.4 kg cannabis packed in two separate bags and Rs 6700 cash were seized from the site, police said.
The two, identified as Sarat Behera (50) of Shyampur and Nakula Mallick (30) of Balifguda area of Kandhamal district, confessed their involvement in illegal ganja trade.
While Nakula was allegedly procuring cannabis from Kahdnamal and supplying it to Sarat, the latter was selling the ganja illegally at his shop. Further investigation in the case is underway.
