Angul: Carcasses of two elephants were found at two different places in Odisha’s Angul district during the last 24 hours.
According to sources, one elephant was found dead near Dihataila under Kanihna Forest Range in Angul district on Saturday night. The locals spotted the carcass and informed the Forest Department officials.
It is being suspected that the elephant died after coming in contact with a live electric wire.
Earlier in the day, carcass of a wild tusker was recovered from a paddy field near Jokapani village under Palalhara Forest Range in the district. The tusker is suspected to have died of some disease.
Postmortem of the carcass has been conducted and the exact cause of the death would be known soon, said a forest official.
Notably, a tusker was killed after coming in contact with live electric wire at Paunsia jungle under Khamara Forest Range in Angul district on September 11.
