Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police arrested two inter-state drug smugglers and seized a huge quantity of ganja and other materials from them in Bhubaneswar.
Acting on intelligence inputs about illegal transportation of narcotic drugs, a team of STF and Commissionerate Police conducted a joint raid at Ghatikia under the Bharatpur arrea of the state capital and apprehended the duo, STF said in a release on Sunday.
The accused were identified as Mansingh Yadav of Gorakhpur in Utter Pradesh and Mukesh Kumar Yadav of Bihar’s Siwan. Both were residing at Ganeswarpur under Januganja area of Balasore district in Odisha.
During search, ganja weighing more than 185 kg, two cars and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession.
A case has been registered at Bharatpur Police Station for necessary legal action. Investigation is on.
Stating that the special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing, the STF said snce 2020, it has seized more than 68 Kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gram cocaine and more than 113 quintals of ganja, 750 gram opium and arrested more than 168 drug dealers and peddlers.
