Malkangiri: Two Maoists surrendered before Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra on Wednesday.
They were identified as Surya and Malati, belonging to Baipariguda Dalam of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). Both figured in the wanted list of police for their alleged involvement in over 25 cases of Maoist violence. Surya (commander) and Malati (deputy commander) were carrying Rs 5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh respectively on their head.
On May 29, two hardcore Maoists, including a minor, had surrendered before police in Rourkela. Two among them were identified as Sidharth Lohar and Phula Munda. While Lohar was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, it was Rs 1 lakh for Munda. Both of them were involved in more than 25 exchanges of fire with security forces between 2015 and 2016.
