Berhampur: Two panchayats in Odisha’s Ganjam district declared seven-day shutdown each, with effect from Monday, after positive cases of coronavirus were reported there.
In Mathura panchayat, under Polasara block, one person tested positive in the State Bank of India branch in the village. “I took the decision after discussing the matter with BDO Sambunath Nandi and Tahasildar Sukant Chandra Mishra,” said Sarpanch Pradip Kumar Nayak.
The shutdown will be implemented from 10 pm on July 6 till the morning of July 13, informed Nayak.
More than seven thousand people live in Mathura panchayat.
Nuapada panchayat, under Chikiti block, will also be shut down from July 6-13 after three villagers tested positive for COVID-19, informed Sarpanch S Mamata.
