Cuttack: Villagers in Niali block of Cuttack district continue to be in the grip of fear as the sheep killer on the prowl killed two sheep and injured two persons at Olasana village late on Sunday.
“Even though the CCTV cameras installed by the forest officials captured a Hyena-like animal in a nearby forest, it is yet to be traced and caught. It is frustrating as all efforts of the state government official have failed to yield results,” a resident said.
Meanwhile, the forest officials launched an awareness drive to sensitize the public on rumours regarding the wild animal through posters and leaflets. Traps and cages have also been put at different places to catch the sheep killer.
A sheep was found dead under similar circumstances in a Kalahandi village the previous day.
