Bhubaneswar: Amid the fear of tomato flu and monkey pox, swine flu has raised it ugly head again in Odisha. At least two persons have tested positive for the contagious virus, H1N1.
The two infected persons, identified as a 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, have no recent travel history. They are undergoing treatment in a private hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.
The fact that they have no travel history has has left the health authorities concerned.
Meanwhile, State Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra asked people not to panic. He said “Odisha witnesses two times a year, before monsoon and winter. However, the government is fully prepared to meet any kind of eventualities arising out of the situation,” he said.
Swine flu was first discovered in humans in 2009 and gradually took the form of a pandemic in 2009.
