Basudevpur: A 20-year-old youth of Basudevpur in Odisha’s Bhadrak district allegedly committed suicide after being scolded and stopped from playing PUBG.
According to sources, his uncle was upset because of his overindulgence in PUBG because of which he was neglecting work. There were frequent arguments between them over his addiction to the game.
Following repeated rebuke, he left his uncle’s place and went to his aunt’s house. On being reprimanded by his aunt for being irregular at work, the youth returned to the prawn processing factory and hanged himself in a room on its premises.
Some employees of the factory rushed him to the Basudevpur hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased was a resident of Panijharia village under Chandbali block in the district and was working at a private company in Visakhapatnam. Following the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, he had returned home two months back. He stayed with his maternal uncle and worked at a prawn processing factory in Dhamara area, the sources added.
