Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force apprehended two inter-state drug peddlers and seized 202 grams of cocaine from their possession during a raid on Tareni Nagar at Salia Sahi in the city.
The two peddlers have been identified as Ravi Singh and Sunny Kumar of Naurangpura under Hamirvas police limits in Churu district of Rajasthan.
The STF conducted the raid near Xavier Crossing on Tuesday evening on basis of intelligence input and nabbed the two who were staying here at Tareni Nagar.
The main accused Ravi used to sell cocaine in different areas of Delhi after procuring the same from a bigger cocaine trafficker of the national capital. Ravi, who has relatives in Punjab also, owns a hotel in his native place.
The STF state in a release that Ravi was in travel business in Delhi during the Commonwealth Games time and speaks fluent English. During this time he got the idea of selling cocaine as he had good contacts with many foreigners.
He contacted the second accused Sunny Kumar (who is also from Rajasthan but residing in Bhubaneswar) to spread the cocaine business in the city. They had struck a deal when police was tipped off about their activities.
The two have been booked under Sections 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 and remanded in judicial custody.
