Bhubaneswar: The intense heatwave continued to scorch several parts of the state on Tuesday with 21 places recording temperature above 40 degree Celsius. Of these, mercury soared past 42 degree Celsius at 9 places on the day.
Sonepur was the hottest place in the state at 44.4 degree Celsius, followed by Balangir at 44.3; Titlagarh 43.5; Angul 43.1; Boudh: 43; Jharsuguda 42.8; Sambalpur 42.4; Sundargarh 42.5; Bhawanipatna and Deogarh 42.
The temperature in the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack remained below 40 on the day. While Bhubaneswar recorded 37.6 degree Celsius, Cuttack recorded 37 degrees.
