22 Places In Odisha Record 42 Degree Celsius Or More Amid IMD Forecast Of Further Rise in Temperature

Bhubaneswar: Even as entire Odisha came under severe heatwave with 22 places recording 42 degree Celsius or more, the IMD has forecast that the temperature may further go up in next two days.

In its evening bulletin, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar said the mercury zoomed past 40 degree Celsius in as many as 33 places in the state.

The IMD recorded maximum (day) temperature of 43 degree or more in 8 places with Jharsuguda reeling under 43.8 degree Celsius. It was followed by Baripada with 43.6 degree, Nuapada 43.5, Talcher 43.4 and Boudh 43.2 degree Celsius.

Kendrapada, Cuttack and Balangir recorded maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius. Capital city Bhubaneswar, which recorded 42.2 degree at 2.30 pm, did not see further rise in temperature.

The IMD has forecast that the temperature may further go up by 2 to 3 degree in next two days and there is likely to be no major change thereafter. Many places will experience heatwave and severe heatwave with the day temperature remaining 3 to 6 degree more than normal temperature.

The Met office has issued an orange warning and forecast that heatwave to severe heat wave condition is very
likely in the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Balasore, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak. Heatwave condition is very likely in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Angul and Khurda. Warm night condition is very likely to prevail in Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts.
