Baripada: At least 25 people were injured, four of them critically, after a bus carrying them overturned on the National Highway-18 near Krushnachandrapur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the mishap took place late on Sunday night when the passenger bus with over 50 passengers on board was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Rairangpur.
On being informed, fire service personnel and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) ambulances and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers.
All the injured have been admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Baripada. While 25 passengere sustained injuries, the condition of four was stated to be critical.
While the exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the driver of the vehicle was suspeted to have lost control over the wheels before it overturned.
A police team from Betanati reached the spot and launched an investigation into the accident.
