Koraput: Four persons on a motorcycle died after being run over by a truck on National Highway-26 near Jabakanaditha under Jeypore Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Dhoba Paraja (25), Loknath Jani (18), Ghasi Paraja (11), and Dhanpati Paraja (13) of Bichalkota village under Boipariguda block.
According to sources, the accident took place around 8 am when the four, who worked as farm labourers, were heading towards Bhatachinchi on the two-wheeler and were dragged under the wheels of the speeding truck. All four died on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the mishap, which is being attributed to possible dense fog this morning. The driver of the truck, who fled the scene soon after the mishap, has surrendered before police, sources added.
