Bhubaneswar: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed in a Maoist ambush at Patadhara reserve forest under Boden block in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as ASI Sishupal Singh from Uttar Pradesh, ASI Shivpal from Haryana and constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh from Bihar.
If reports are to be believed seven other jawans were injured in the attack.
DGP Odisha Sunil Bansal informed that there was a fierce exchange of fire between CRPF and the Maoists. Nuapada SP and senior CRPF officers have reached the spot. Combing operation has been intensified in the area with the deployment of more teams of SOG and CRPF, he said.
“The operation would continue in the area to track down the Maoists. The supreme sacrifice of the jawans wouldn’t go in vain,” the DGP added, expressing condolences to bereaved families.
Meanwhile, the state government has announced Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia for each of the martyrs’ families.
