Nabarangpur: Three persons, including two women, died as a truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Nabarnagpur district on Sunday.
According to sources, the accident took place when 10 persons were travelling in the auto to attend an election meeting at around 4 pm. The truck, coming from opposite direction, rammed into the auto at Jodenga under Raighar police limits in the district after the driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle.
The locals rushed to the spot to rescue the injured persons and informed the police. A team from Jodenga police station with the help of the locals sent 5 injured persons to the local community health centre (CHC). While three passengers of the auto died on the spot, two others escaped unhurt.
Police have sent the bodies for postmortem and seized both vehicles. They have registered a case and started an investigation.
