Paradip: The Immigration Department here issued a notice to a Chinese bulk carrier ship, which docked at Paradip Port in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur on Saturday morning, after three Ghana nationals, believed to be illegal immigrants, were spotted on the vessel.
The ship, MV Great Sheng Wen, with 20 crew members and carrying coal from Russia for ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has been asked not to deboard them at any Indian ports. It has been asked to release the commodities at the earliest and leave Paradip port, according to sources.
While port security personnel along with the Immigration Department inspected the ship, guarded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, the purpose behind presence of three Ghanaians in the ship is yet to be ascertained. It is being suspected that they absconded from their country by boarding the Chinese ship when it was in the African nation in April.
