Jeypore: Three persons were arrested on charges of extorting money from contractors in Bandhugan area of Narayanpatna, Jeypore. They were posing as Maoists.
According to police, S Muralikrishna of Paralakhemundi, Talathu Hueika and Lokanath Pangi of Kelubada village had demanded Rs 20 lakh each from two contractors on a letter pad akin to the ones used by Maoist rebels. They also threatened to torch vehicles engaged in construction work if their demands were not met.
The contractors informed the Koraput SP about the matter. Bandhugaon police laid a trap and arrested the accused.
