Malkangiri: Three Maoists of Chhattisgarh surrendered before police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Thusday.

According to police sources, the three Maoists, identified as Deb Madvi, Adam Madkami and Muka Sodi of Sukma area in the neighbouring state, surrendered before Malkangiri SP. They were working as informers of the Maoists and were also involved in several violent activities.

After a CRPF camp was set up in Sukma and anti-Maoist operation intensified, they had withdrawn themselves from the activities of the banned outfit. While surrendering before the police, they said they wanted to return to mainstream of the society and lead a normal life.

Deb Madvi had joined as Gram Rakshak of the Maoists’ South Bastar division in 2020. He used to provide food and necessary items to the outfit besides working as an informer about police activities in the area. After a CRPF camp was set up in Debakonta, he decided to dissociate from the Maoists.

Adam Makami was working as militia member of the Maoists in Konta since 2019. He was an active cadre till January, 2024. He was involved in several criminal activities of the Maoists including planting IED and attack on police camps.

Similarly, Muka Sodi had gone into Maoist fold in 2018 and later, worked as a militia member. He was staying in his village and working as Gram Rakshak. He was also an informer and supplier of the Maoists.
