Bhubaneswar: Three minors died due to drowning during Ganesh idol immersion in separate mishaps in Odisha on Monday.
In the first case, a +2 student Ritesh Swain died after drowning in a river in Jagatisnghpur’s Tirtol today.
According to sources, Ritesh and his friend S Ravi drowned in the river during immersion of Ganesh idol. The two were serious when rescued.
While Ritesh succumbed in the local hospital, Ravi has been shifted to Jagatsinghpur district headquarters hospital for treatment.
In another case, two minor boys died during immersion of Ganesh idol in Panchama village under Golanthara police limits of Ganjam district today afternoon.
A group of villagers along with the two minors went to the village pond to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesh today. However, two 12-year-old boys accidentally slipped into the deep water of the pond and drowned, said sources.
Local police have registered cases and sent the bodies for autopsy.
