Cuttack: Three members of a family were rescued in a critical condition after they allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison inside a house in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Friday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place in a house located in Sector-6 of CDA area under the jurisdiction of Markat Nagar Police Station in the city. A man, his wife and son were rescued after they allegedly consumed poison in the rented house.
All the three were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where their condition was stated to be serious.
While the exact reason behind the extreme step taken by them is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the family was undergoing a financial crisis.
The house owner reportedly told the police that the family was unable to pay the rent for the last two to three months.
Police personnel and a scientific team visited the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident.
