Puri: Police have arrested three persons on charges of extortion from different places in Odisha’s Puri district.
In one case, one Abhisek Pradhan allegedly threatened a shop-keeper with a knife and demanded extortion money on Red Cross Road under Kumbharpada police station in Puri town. As the businessman did not concede to the demand, Abhisek threatened to kill him.
This led Abhisek to file a complaint against Abhisek at the police station. Following investigation, the police arrested Abhisek.
In the second case, Tirupati Nayak and Raja Das were collecting money from the tourists and shop owners at Gadanti Chhaka under Baselisahi and Talabania police stations. After getting complaints about the extortion, the police traced Tirupati and Ras and arrested both of them.
All the three arrested persons were forwarded to the on Tuesday, police sources said.
