Malkangiri: Three policemen of Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guard (DRG) were killed and two others injured during an exchange of fire with the Naxals in Sukma, close to the border with Odisha, on Saturday.
The deceased DRG personnel were identified as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Ramuram Nag, assistant constable Kunjam Joga and sainik Vanjam Bheema.
Sources said the DRG team were carrying out a combing operation when the Maoists opened fire at them. As the security personnel rtaliated, a fierce gunbattle took place Jagargunda and Kunded villages, close to Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
After the encounter, reinforcement was rushed to the spot and a search operation launched. Further details are awaited
