Sambalpur: In a tragic incident, at least three labourers died of asphyxiation and another was in a critical condition at a construction site at a village in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Saturday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Pukuda village under the jurisdiction of Jamankira police station in the district when the workers were carrying out centring work of a septic tank.
The deceased have been identified as Srikant Munda, Bharat Rana and Basant Dehury. Another labourer Siddharth Mund has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Sambalpur for treatment. His condition was stated to be critical.
Sources said four labourers were engaged to carry out roof centring work of septic tank at the village. When the work was underway, the workers suddenly fell unconscious.
Others present at the site rushed them to a nearby hospital where three were declared dead.
