Bhubaneswar: The two-day 30th National Youth Parliament Competition (Regional Level) of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Bhubaneswar Region, began at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.3 here on Friday.
Besides inaugurating the competition, former MP Mahamegha Bahan Aira Kharabela Swain, acted as the chief judge. The other jury members were Assistant Commissioner of KVS Bhubaneswar Region Dr. D Ojha and Principal of KV No.3 Bhubaneswar D Purohit.
Around 275 participants from five Kendriya Vidyalayas of Bhubaneswar region – KV Military Station Gopalpur, KV Puri, KV No.2 CRPF Bhubaneswar, KV No.2 Sri Vijayanagar and KV No.2 Nausenabaugh, Visakhapatnam – are participating in the event.
The competition is being conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations framed by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The winning team will participate in Zonal Level Competition with the motto to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student’s community to be aware about the functioning of our Parliament.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in consultation with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has decided to introduce a scheme of National Youth Parliament Competition in Kendriya Vidyalaya throughout the country and to hold ‘Youth Parliament’ annually among Kendriya Vidyalaya in all the 25 regions, official sources said.
