Berhampur: The students of ITI-Berhampur have paid 3D tribute to former Chief Minister of Odisha on his 105th birth anniversary.
The students have created a 1×1 foot 3D sculpture as a tribute to the father of Skill Odisha, said Principal Dr Rajat Kumar Panigrahy, who guided the students.
Dr Panigrahy said “By this concept sculpture up to 100 ft with sky colour background can be manufactured and installed. The sculpture, which is very light in weight, can be easily transported where and when required at a very nominal cost as it is designed from light weight scrap metal sheets.”
This shows a new era of skill development in which computer graphics, welding, grinding, cutting, painting skills are integrated to develop the piece of art. This will further add value to circular economy by creating employment in this area, said the Principal.
“We are trying to make Biju Babu sculpture to a size of 30×30 feet within a week. We also tried making sculptures of Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose,” he added.
Informing about the process of designing the sculpture, Dr Panigrahy said a photo in computer graphics is prepared, we took its print out on transparent sheets. Cut out the black portions of the print and pasted it on 16 frames with mathematical calculations by the help of 16 iron rods. It takes one day to produce one sculpture,” said the proud Principal.
