Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will launch the third phase of the first instalment of its cash transfer scheme, ‘Subhadra Yojana,’ on Sunday (November 24) in Sundargarh in presence of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.

“22% of the total 2.67 lakh rejected applicants will receive money in the third phase tomorrow,” Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida told reporters on Saturday.

More than 20 lakh women are likely to benefit from the scheme.

“We have ensured a meticulous verification process to confirm the eligibility of the beneficiaries. The process has been transparent and our focus is to reach those who truly qualify under the scheme,” she said.

The Deputy CM further stated that the physical verification will be conducted for applicants disqualified due to their non-compliance with property and land eligibility criteria and they will receive the money in December. “These woman have been deprived of the benefits under the scheme despite not owning any land with 5 acre written in their records since someone sold paddy in their names in mandis. These applications have been forwarded to the block level for further scrutiny and potential re-evaluation.”

On 5 lakh applications rejected due discrepancies in the linkage of Aadhaar numbers, mobile numbers and bank accounts, she said that these beneficiaries will also be covered in the next phase. “Anganwandi workers, Mission Shakti members will conduct physical verification in every village to facilitate the process,” she said.

Anganwadi workers also will receive the financial assistance under the scheme in the third phase of first instalment, she added.

Under the scheme, all eligible beneficiaries aged 21 to 60 years will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29. Beneficiaries will get Rs 10,000 annually in two equal instalments, credited directly to their Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-linked bank accounts.

The state government so far has disbursed Rs 5,000 each to about 60 lakh beneficiaries in two phases. While around 25 lakh women received the money in the first phase when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on September 17, the amount was credited to bank accounts of beneficiaries in the second phase on October 9. The fourth and final phase of the first instalment is likely to be released by the end of December, covering over 1 crore women in total.
