Bhubaneswar: Four of the 10 coal mines auctioned this week under the third tranche for commercial were located in Odisha, the coal ministry said on Saturday.
Jindal Steel and Power bagged Utkal-C coal mine while Hindalco Industries emerged as the highest bidder for the Meenakshi mine on the second and third days of the auction of coal blocks.
Mahanadi Mines and Minerals and Yazdani Steel And Power bagged a mine each in the eastern state on the first day of the auction, when five blocks were sold. Dalmia Cement Bharat Ltd made the highest bid for two coal blocks in Jharkhand.
According to the ministry, the 10 blocks are projected to generate annual revenue of Rs 2,858.20 crore.
Notably, a total of 42 coal blocks have been auctioned till date for commercial mining.
“Under the commercial coal mining auction process, a total of 42 coal mines, including… mines auctioned in tranche-3, have been successfully auctioned till date with a total cumulative PRC (peak rate capacity) of 86.404 million tonnes per annum (MTPA),” the statement added.
