Bhubaneswar: Four persons, including three women, were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in separate lightning strikes in Odisha’s Angul and Koraput districts on Monday.
While two deaths were reported from Nalco area in Angul district, two others died following lightning strike in Borigumma area of Koraput district, sources said.
In Angul district, two women were killed and as many critically injured after being hit by lightning while returning home after collecting firewood.
The deceased were identified as Sushma Behera and Peni Behera of Balaramprasad village under the jurisdiction of Nalco Police Station. The injured have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Angul.
In a similar incident in Koraput district, a woman and her son died after lightning strike in Borigumma area. The victims were working in the field at Anchala village under Borigumma block when the incident took place.
